Christmas Letter 2015
This year, the letter is only going to be digital. I didn't have time for cards this year. It's been super busy and hectic around here since school started.
The year started with a new interim principal. It was a rough experience, as change always is. We were challenged to work harder and teach better. It made me become a better version of myself, even though it was a difficult time. My students did well and it was sad to see them go in June. I'd been with them for 2 years, so it was hard to let my precious little ones go. I also was voted Teacher of the Year for my campus by my peers for the 2015-2016 school year.
Over the summer, I was able to visit many friends and family. I started making a pit stop in Georgia to see my friends Jeanne and her family. Then, I went up to visit my family in New Jersey. I spent most of June running back and forth to see friends and family. I was able to be at my Grandma's 80th birthday party and the family reunion for her side of the family. It was nice to see people that I hadn't seen in many, many years! Those who took time out of their busy schedule to visit with me, I greatly appreciate you! I cannot tell you how much it meant to me for me to be able to spend quality time with you before going back to Texas. Before I headed back to Texas, I was able to spend the 4th of July with Jeanne and her family. It was lovely! I always enjoy visiting with them. However, that's when my computer decided to go on the fritz. Yikes!
I ended up having to get a new laptop, which has been lovely. I have created and made so many more things for my job and students due to the increased memory and speed. This school year has begun great. We had a new principal. She has been wonderful. I haven't worked for a principal that I have respected more than her. She has challenged our team to work harder and smarter. I have made some of the best lesson plans, lessons, and tests this year than I have my whole teaching career. I am truly looking forward to working many more years with her. My kids are great. We even had a donors project funded this year. I saw that my kids need some comfort to encourage their reading. I put in a project at Donors Choose for people to help fund us getting some cushions for the kids to read with. The project was funded quickly and the kids loved them! I am so grateful for the family and friends that helped encourage my kids to read!
This holiday season (Thanksgiving and Christmas), I stayed in Texas and went to a coworker's house instead. It was nice to be able to spend the holidays with people that I know. However, it was nice to be able to Skype with my parents and youngest brothers to open Christmas gifts together, even if it was from miles away.
I hope that you have had a blessed year and that the coming year continues to be blessed as well. May God continue to watch over you and keep you.
