Christmas Letter 2012
**In order to save money and trees, I have decided to make my Christmas letter available online instead of printing it. Please save this address for future letters!**
It's hard to believe this year is almost over. I feel as if it isn't even time for a year to be over yet, although it could be because of Texas's interesting choice in weather! :) I pray that this year has kept you safe and well.
At the beginning of the year, I had high hopes of finding a new job but that just did not happen. The blessing in disguise did allow me to complete one of my graduate projects at my old job, so I was able to see many of my friends and old faces. It was lovely to see them and reunite with some of my lovely old students. Their beautiful faces always brightened up my day!
Not having a job also allowed me to focus solely on my school work. So, as per my initial goal, I completed my degree with a 4.0! I am thrilled to know that I was able to accomplish that goal, graduate in 2 years, and walk across the stage of my Alma Mater once again. Thankfully, my mom and some of my friends were able to be there to celebrate with me. Visits from Mom are always fun, but short. We both enjoyed the quick, but fun visit.
This school year, I have been working at a Christian preschool. I know that it was a God-incident because of how things occurred and at the rate in which they did. I am grateful for the job, opportunities, and challenges that have come with it. Through all of it, I have been learning more and more about God's provisions and trusting in Him. The people I work with are sweet, especially the children! :) I am a music assistant most of the week, but fill-in with the 2's, young "toddlers", and teach an afternoon 4's class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It has reminded me why I love teaching so much, along with renewing my confidence that had been so shaken since I was cut. Within the music program, I work with infants through kindergarten and love it! It has reworked my vocal muscles, along with some other muscles as I do "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" multiple times a day and week! I also was blessed to be able to direct the 4's during the Christmas program while the music teacher directed the kindergarteners. It was a great and rare honor to be allowed to do it alone without her help! But I have made some new work friends and truly can say I enjoy what I am doing.
Working with the music teacher also led me to sing in a cantata this year! I am thrilled to be singing again! I cannot express how much I missed singing in a choir, especially Christmas cantatas. It brings back such beautiful memories of cold nights, long talks, and sectional practices. Although this cantata is not at the church I attend (yes, I have found a church that I love!), it has brought me back to my Methodist roots and my singing roots. :) While on the topic of interesting things, I also had the opportunity to Skype with my cousin's students in Korea as part of their lessons in English. It was such a fun and interesting experience. This year I was able to spend Thanksgiving with my Texas family. I was able to bring a traditional dessert of my own family, peanut butter pie. It was a hit and rather tasty! Along with finding a new church, I also have begun the process of joining the worship team. It's been great finding a way to plug into a church.
I pray that your Christmas and new year are filled with joy, peace, and love. Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and share that reason with others. May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you!
