Christmas Letter 2013

Greetings! It is that time of year again. What a wonderful time of learning and discovery this year has been for me. I hope that your year also has been full of God's wonder as well. As usual, I am excited to share my year with you.

My job opportunities have been going well. The year began with me still working at the Christian preschool here in town. I was still working with the music department there. Following the huge Christmas program, we began to work on the spring program, which included 2 yrs old all the way through Kindergarten. The program turned out great and was so much fun to work on. Then began our summer program! For the summer program, I worked in music, along with doing some office work and handling subs/scheduling. It was so much fun being able to work with the staff in that capacity. During the summer, I went through quite a few different interviews, but nothing was seeming to pan out. Then, I was able to get one at an elementary school in town. Since August, I have been working as a Pre-K/K Montessori teacher. It has been a lot of work and like being a first year teacher again, but I have gotten to know and enjoy my team. I've been going to Montessori training to help learn more about it. It is a two-year training and internship program. Beyond teaching, I am still tutoring some students on the side. It goes on and off at times, but they are all doing well and improving, which I'm grateful for.

Although, I was unable to go home this year or at Thanksgiving, I will be able to go home for Christmas this year. This is very important because I will get to see my new niece. I am thrilled to be able to see her and also spend time on my way back home visiting with her, my brother, and SIL. The trip home will be a long one because I will be driving this year. Thankfully, I get to make a pit-stop in TN to grab my cousin so she can drive. We are alternating driving so that neither of us gets tired trying to drive straight through. It will be such a blessing to be able to go home for Christmas this year since I haven't been back for one since 2008. I'm even hoping for snow. :)

This year, I also got to sing with the church cantata again. Along with singing during the cantata, they also convinced me to sing for Thanksgiving Sunday and the Hanging of the Greens service. It has been wonderful to share the joy of music and singing with other people. I always love being able to hear the harmonies and hear how everything comes together.

It has been great being able to share time with friends and teach at the same time. God has taught me many things throughout this year and this journey. I have been through many obstacles, trials, and situations, but I have learned who my true friends are and where to place my trust. I am grateful for God giving me another year where He has met all of my needs. May God continue to bless you and your family as you begin this new year!
