Christmas Letter 2011
Another year has flown by and what an eventful year it has
been! I hope that your year has been as blessed and eventful as mine.
Job: I finished up my third year of
teaching in June. Due to budget cuts in the district and throughout the state,
it has been difficult finding a job. Through God’s provision, I have been able
to make ends meet. I have been tutoring while looking for a job. Working
one-on-one with struggling students has given me the ability to continue
learning about learning disabilities. I
am enjoying the tutoring, but I would like to get back into the classroom
again. Please keep this job situation in your prayers.
School: This year has been such a
learning experience with all the classes I am taking. It has been so
enlightening and opened some doors to further opportunities. I have enjoyed
every class that I have taken. My goal is to complete my degree in May with a
4.0. So far, I have maintained that goal and will be registering in January to
walk and graduate in May 2012. I am looking into taking the GRE to get a
doctorate in education. I have an idea of where I would like to go and what I
would like to study thanks to a dear professor friend of mine.
General Life: I am still seeing Travis. We are finishing up
our Master’s degrees, which keeps us pretty busy. Hopefully, once we both
finish school, we hope to be able to spend more time together and do some more
travelling. I haven’t been having much luck finding a church that I can plug
into since leaving the one I was attending. I am hoping to be able to find
something soon.
Travel and Events: Spring break this
year I was visited by my cousin, Anne, while she was on her spring break. She
was able to come to work and give a presentation about world travel to the
kids. It was a great visit. As soon as Anne left, I went to visit my friend,
Courtney, in Austin. It was awesome to catch up with old friends. During the
summer, I went back to the North for a much needed break. I spent a wonderful,
relaxing, and refreshing week with my Grandma in NJ. Then I was able to see
more family and friends in Maryland. I went to D.C. with my aunt and uncle, who
were so kind to show me around the historic sites. I spent 2 weeks back in NJ
where I was able to visit and see more friends and family. I was able to go to
LBI to see the fireworks with a dear friend, which was beautiful. I also went
horseback riding and saw Joseph at the Sight and Sound Theatre with my friend,
Gary. On my way home, I stopped to see some old friends, the Zieglers, and visit
Anne in Nashville. In September, my cousin, Chris, got married, which I was
able to attend with my mom and Travis. It was a great time with family and so
elegant. I was able to attend Thanksgiving at Willow Valley with my family
again, along with attending the wedding for David and my now sister-in-law,
Sarah. I was able to spend some quality time with all of my family, see some
friends, and experience a gorgeous ceremony. It was such a blessing to have so
many travel opportunities this year!
I hope that this letter finds you well
and may God bless your holiday season and New Year. Do not forget the true meaning
of Christmas. Jesus should be at the forefront of our minds, for without Him we
would have no reason to celebrate. Please keep me in your prayers, as I do the
same for you. Be sure to keep in touch. God bless!
